Reflection 8
This will be my last reflection for EIR as my lesson will end today. Therefore I will now tell you about how my EIR lesson was like and what is my thought on it.
At first when I start to have EIR, I find like I am a newborn baby who does not know anything at first but as time goes by I start to grow up and gain more and more knowledge which enrich my life. Just for instance, before I start EIR I do not know anything about blogging, the different kind facilities of search engine and also placing video and information on wiki, but now I have learn all this which I find that it will be useful to me when I start my course and also having a varieties of ways to search for my work in the Internet.
Overall, I enjoy EIR because I am able to learn new thing and able to discover new things about the Internet and in class, our teacher Ms Faridah will share with us some video and also I find out that actually Second Life can help us in research, at first I thought it was just a game whereby people can communicate but then after trying to play, I learn that not only is a game but also another way which can enhance our learning.

Reflection 7
For today lesson, the thing we do in class is finishing up our portfolio part 2 and in one part of the portfolio we have to put our search of information on the topic we do in Wiki.
That is the part which I do today and after contributing to Wiki, I find that contributing to the Wiki, the significant learning experience for my group is that we have a common topic to talk about and sort of having a communication to them and as we interact we might also be friends with one another.
By contributing to the Wiki, I will be able to share with them extra information I have found on problem gambling and the group of mine will have more understanding on problem gambling which I find is the purpose of Wiki. One of the most challenging experiences I encounter is that before I try to add information to Wiki, there are a lot of information posted by the previous batch wiki group already and the information provided are very detailed and well done so when I was told to contribute to wiki, I faced problems in finding more information on it which are different to what have been provided. Nevertheless, I still managed to find some things to contribute as there are many updates done by different website and from this website I can recent updates and post to wiki and therefore the wiki groups will get to know of the new information provided by me.
The advice that I want to give to the next batch wiki groups is that try to browse through the whole thing of the topic that they are doing first because when I do I find that there are repeated information provided which I find that it is meaningless to do so cause the reason why we want to contribute is that we want to let others know about more about the topic, if repeated people will just find that it is just repeating the same thing and therefore will not want to continue browsing it.
I would not really use Wiki for research in my own Diplomas because though it compiles all the information which I will need but Wiki allows people to edit anytime and with people doing so, the information provided might not be accurate and hence will not be useful to me. It will only make me have a double job to go check out if information provided is correct and this is also a time consuming process.

Reflection 6
Today morning the thing we do are starting on our second part of our portfolio and by doing evaluation on the website i have choose, i do on the purpose, coverage, authority, accuracy, currency, accessibility, presentation and arrangement, usability. When i try to apply all this for my evaluation, i can then finally what each of it means and by doing this portfolio, there is a reference i can look at when i forget the meaning of it.
Twitter which is a micro-blogging is another source which can enhance my learning of EIR. Twitter is another website which is like Wiki whereby people will be able to get information from and people share their opinions and thoughts. Twitter is similar to blogspot in a way that both are putting up information by a person and is whereby people put their own experience and compiling all the information from different websites into one place. However for Twitter, people can post their thought on their life whereby others can comment on and able to stalk the person who comment on you whereas for blogspot, people can leave comments but they can be anonymous and if they attack on you individually, you will not be able to find that person.
For Twitter and Blogspot, both are useful for me in research because for Twitter, there are many members and therefore there will be lots of results when i search on youth gambling and from each result link i press there will be information on youth gambling and some of the result show some personal account which i can use for my case study. As for blogspot, people will compile all their research into a blog and make my search easy and basically all information i need will be all found in one place and i can be able to do discussion with the person who also do research on the problem gambling.

Reflection 5
Today for my blog, i will tell you about my dream holiday destination, and that is Taiwan. I have always been thinking of going to Taiwan maybe it is because i am a person who like to watch Taiwanese drama therefore whenever i watch the drama, i would be able to see different kind of scenery in Taiwan which i find some beautiful and hence want to go there personally to take a look at it. Not only that, the reason i feel like going Taiwan, Ximen Ding is because i would enjoy shopping there because the clothing, accessories, bags sold there are mostly the kind of design i like hence it would be a shopping trip to me too.
A distinctive feature of Wulai is the wide variety of cherry trees. During February to April, various cherry trees blossom along the winding mountain roads, valleys and rivers. Fuji cherries, Feihan cherries, Jiye cherries, and Bachung cherries are all in full bloom and brighten all the paths. The rich nectar of cherry blossoms attracts various birds, such as Formosa Yuhina, Gray-cheeked Fulvettas, Chinese Bulbul, and Taiwan Sibia, etc. This gives an opportunity for visitors to have birdwatching while enjoying the beauty of cherry blossoms. In order to promote the local tourism business, Taipei County Government enriches the focus of the cherry blossoms by joining the local Atayal . Aboriginal culture including Atayal songs, dancing, and traditional arts and rituals,with the festival in the hope of providing a different view of the festival.
Ximen Ding is a neighborhood district in
Wanhua District of
taipei, Taiwan and every month,it attract an average of 3 million shoppers . It is a place whereby there are many entertainments such as shopping mall,
KTV and more.It is the place where many
people in Taiwan will go during their holiday.
The criteria i used to evaluate of the multimedia website for my dream holiday is currency, presentation and arrangement. I will use currency because when i want to go to a place i will want to know what events or activities that are taking place recently therefore i will at least have something to look forward to. For example, if i want to go to Taiwan between February to April,which is also known as the Yangmingshan flower festival,one of the activity that i can plan to have when i go Taiwan is go see the cherry blossom. As for presentation and arrangement, the reason why i will use is because if the information provided by the website is not arrange properly, i will not be able to find the information i need and if the home page of the website is dull, i will not be interested to look at.

Reflection 4
Today is the day whereby we need to hand in our portfolio 1 therefore in the morning, we were making amendments or touch up of the reports before handing in. After handing in the report i feel relaxed cause the few days before i was keep worrying of not able to do my report well and will not be accepted. Those people who have done their reports will then start to do their assessment, whereas the others continue doing their reports.The things which i do after finishing my report is sharing my views over Wiki, i find that by sharing with others people about my view, i can get to know what others feel about towards my views. I will not feel bad if people do not agree with me because everyone have different ideas or thoughts, there is no right or wrong about it.
The real lesson start in the afternoon whereby we learn about the 'Citizen Journalism' and also we went to stomp.com. The criteria i used to evaluate Stomp.com is coverage, currency and accuracy. The reason why i say so is that if the people who surely want to know what have happen recently instead of the old events and if the article is not accurate enough, people might not be interested before cause the reason why they go look on the article is because they want find more on the topic. After i visit the website today, i find that for the site, people are able to share their opinion with others and they can create their own post which i find that their are some good and bad about it. The reason i say it is good is because people can get to know about the issue and make a discussion with the people who have read the same article, however it is bad because the information post by the people might not be accurate, it might have just been a rumour and by putting up on Stomp, people might make misconception about it.

Reflection 3
Today morning the teacher evaluates our strengths and we were pair up to do a interview of one another,by doing this i get to know the strengths of my classmate and also get to know more of my own strength. As for the afternoon, i get to know another source which i can use to search for my research, and that is the invisible web which is also known as databases.
I find that it is not that effective to search the invisible web (databases) as compared to searching with search engines. This is because the results given by the search engines is much more than the databases. To me, I find that having more results is better because this also means that i will have more information to refer to . However i find it effective to use the invisible web than the directories because from invisible web i can still find resources that are relevant for my research whereas directories, the results given to me are mostly from organization and are mostly information given is very brief or sometimes even not relevant.
I will use databases when i do research for my diploma because the databases are from Temasek polytechnics therefore it will tends to have resources that students in different diploma will need so that the students would be able to get their reference easier. Hence i find that my using databases i can save time on finding from other websites and i find that the information provides will be very useful and relevant for my research. From this practical i learnt how to edit wiki.
Not only that, today i also post my views on the topic posted on OLE, i find that by doing this i am able to express my thoughts about the topic and share it with others. This online discussion was new to me but i find that it is a good experience because for the traditional face-to-face class discussion, i find that maybe a person might want to express his view on it but do not dare to but with online discussion, they will not be that shy and therefore able to express their view freely. I also find that this online discussion is meaningful because everyone who visited the OLE would be able to see the post and share their opinions which make this discussion more meaningful and wide spread.

2nd Reflection
I was impressed by the Google's search functions/features because by just typing in the keywords of the thing we want to find, we will be able to get lots of result from google and with that, it make my research more convenient and easy. Not only will it make me do my research more efficient, it also let me get to know other thing that relates to my topic. And also today i have learn a way to search and getting more relevant links/sites. [Eg.if i want to do research on effect of youth gambling, i will type (impact OR effect*) AND (gambling problem*) AND (youth OR teenager*) ].
Today afternoon i also went online to search on forum which talks about youth gambling. After reading the post, i reply it and also put some thoughts of mine. I find that forum is also useful for my research because in forum, people might share their personal information or put some article or news of the topic to the forum and by doing so, we will be able to know more of the topic which is youth gambling.Not only that, today we also do citation and bibliography. It is important to do so in order to acknowledge the source of information and respect the author
As for my blog,it is my first blog and therefore i do not know anything about it, but in EIR i learnt to create a blog and also inserting site feeds to my blog. With the site feeds it is much easier in a way that i do not have to remember their blogs link, i will just have to click the site feeds and i am able to view what they have done to their blogs and can comment to it.
The best part i like about collaborating on Wiki with other students on the same research topic is that by adding more information on the Wiki, people will have a even more fully detailed on the topic and able to get more of their attention on this and try to improve the situation by helping the people around them...

1st Reflection for EIR
For today, the things that our class has done is getting to know one another,adding one another in Facebook and MSN, write down our view on the DPA EIR (Facebook) and also decide on the topic we are going to research on. The topic i will be doing on will be the gambling problem of the youth.This topic make me interested in finding more information and article on the topic.After choosing this topic i went to do google search, i found out that the gambling problem of youths was quite serious and make me more interested and also the seriousness of letting people in the whole world to take notice of. Not only that, from today lesson i have also get to know that in order to become a IT student who can excel, first thing we have to do is to be POSITIVE..

This is the Crazy Earphone that i want to buy, it cost $39.99. I want to buy this earphone because the earphone i have now is spoilt and therefore i want to buy a new one and this is the one i want to buy because not only because it looks cute and stylish, the earbud system blocks the unwanted noise,it also delivers a decent sound range and a warm bass.
The second thing i want to buy is this digital camera(LUMIX DMC-ZX3) because the one i having now is still the ' old fashion' type and i find that carrying the one i have now is quite troublesome as it is big and heavy whereas this digital camera, not only it is light but also able to look at the photo i have taken straight away.A brief description on this camera,it is a compact and slim which boasts of an 8X optical zoom and armed with a high-speed, high performance Venus engine HD to back up its "Intelligent Resolution" technology. After spending $188 for the phone and $271.95 for this camera, i am left with $40.05.
The first thing i want to buy for my E-shopping Spree is this handphone (Sony Ericsson Satio). The phone i am using now is 2 years old and it is not functioning well already so i decide to buy this phone. I like this phone very much because it look nice and stylish and also personally i prefer Sony Ericisson phone. This phone cost $188, it is a 3G phone and comes with a 12.1 megapixel camera.

Hiie guys!!!
My name is Li Tene and I'm from financial business informatics.The things that i like to do when i am free is listening to music and surfing the net. The songs that i always listen are chinese song and the songs that i listen to are normally from Lollipop and Rainie Yang. The TV programmes that i like most are 'Brown Macchiato' and 'It started with a kiss'. There are 2 places which i like to hangout the most are places with my friends beside me. The sites that i always like to surf is facebook and youtube. In facebook i can find out what my friends have been doing and able to chat with them online. As for youtube, i always go the site to watch some videos that i am interested in.
The activity that i am passionate is cycling. The first thing that you must be prepared for is you will have to keep falling and not giving up in between.
Today in class we also have an icebreaker activity and we have to introduce ourself by the food we think we represent and the food that i find represent me is watermelon. The reason why i say so because the watermelon is red and it represent me in a way that though my look is like i am very cool but actually inside me is warm and the red colour also show that i like my life to be brightly coloured.
